Participatory Budgeting

In 2018, the A. Philip Randolph Square Neighborhood Alliance designed and promoted a Participatory Budgeting campaign to secure funding to improve lighting and irrigation systems at the Harriet Tubman Memorial. The Alliance was awarded $175K by Councilman Bill Perkins for those capital improvements. Since that time, we learned from feasibility studies that new or enhanced lighting and irrigation systems would be too costly to install because the Memorial was constructed above a subway station. The Alliance has been working with the Parks Department to determine what capital improvements will be made at the site.
